Minutiae-based matching and pattern matching are the two broad categories of fingerprint matching techniques. The accuracy of both methods is heavily dependent on the number of fingerprint features captured by the sensor. A larger fingerprint scanner captures more features, producing better fingerprint images.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) categorizes single finger scanners into three categories based on the capture area - FAP 30, FAP 20, and FAP 10.
According to a large-scale study conducted by NIST IR 7950, FAP 30 scanners exhibit huge improvements in matching accuracy.
Credence-3™ integrates a FAP 30 fingerprint scanner having the largest fingerprint capture area of 0.8 x 1.0 inches. This area is roughly 1.5 times that of a FAP 20 scanner and twice that of a FAP 10 scanner.
The Credence-3™ comes with an upgraded 13MP camera for better quality face biometric capture along with high resolution document scanning capabilities. This high resolution is one of the best among its class and enables improved biometric matching accuracy and OCR capabilities from scanned documents.

Credence-3™ features a dual-interface smartcard reader that can automatically recognize contact and contactless smartcards in its proximity. This dual-interface reader then activates the corresponding channel for rapid smartcard reading. With our comprehensive Android-based C-SDK, you can access various high-speed smartcard applications such as National ID programs, government benefit delivery, medical insurance claims, and others.
Credence-3™ can virtually read any contact smartcard and 13.56MHz contactless card.
The contactless interface supports fast contactless transmissions up to 848 Kbps in ISO 14443 A/B mode.
The contact interface can handle up to 200,000 insertions
With our Android-based C-SDK, you can send direct APDU to any smartcard. It also supports rapid card reading with extended ADPUs that are capable of exchanging large data blocks. Most present-day mobile phones lack this support.
